Campus Life

Carrabassett Valley Academy is located at the base of Sugarloaf Mountain and next to the Carrabassett River, in the heart of Maine’s western mountains. In winter, students enjoy access to Sugarloaf's 1,360 skiable acres and 650 acres of backcountry terrain. CVA also offers off-season outdoor activities, including hiking the Appalachian Trail, swimming, and mountain biking.

CVA Boarding Student Experience

The CVA boarding experience is unique; combining world-class training and college preparatory academics with full access to teachers, coaches, and facilities. It promotes character development, community living, and a shared love for skiing and riding.

Boarding students share meals with peers and staff, live in single or double rooms, and attend evening study hall. With 24/7 support from dorm parents and staff, they develop independence and leadership.

CVA Day Student Experience

Day students integrate completely into the CVA community - training, studying, and participating alongside our boarding students.

Each athlete has a day room for gear prep before skiing or riding. After training, day students join boarding students, coaches, teachers, and staff for meals. They can tune equipment, complete dryland training, and engage in social clubs, study hall, and leadership activities.

CVA thrives on the inclusion and participation of every Big Dog.

A Day in the Life of a CVA Student

Discover CVA through the eyes of a Big Dog. Each 60 second, student-produced video showcases a Day in the Life of a student-athlete. These videos are as diverse and unique as our students with a shared passion of skiing and snowboarding.
